aromatherapy is an ancient practice.

here’s a refresher…

Did you know that virtually all of the pharmaceutical drugs that are prescribed today can be traced back to a plant extraction?

In the United States, of the top 150 prescription drugs, at least 118 are based on natural sources: 74 percent come from plants, 18 percent from fungi, 5 percent from bacteria, and 3 percent from vertebrate species such as snakes or frogs.

So when we talk about plant medicine, let us not forget that virtually all medicine contains plant properties.

Aromatherapy is defined as a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being. This art and science originates from ancient cultures in China, India, and Egypt. More recently, it has been receiving increased recognition in the arenas of medical healthcare- a natural full circle.

My passion for plant medicine- in all of its forms- runs deep. I have been acquainted with aromatherapy for some years now, and have experienced first hand the healing potential of its application. I find that it has a subtle loosening effect on our subconscious, which is one of the reasons why it is so powerful to integrate with massage therapy.
